PAGB’s CEO, Michelle Riddalls, is the latest guest on HBW’s Over The Counter podcast.

Airing in two instalments, in the first episode Michelle joins David Ridley to chat about PAGB’s new 5-year strategy and how this has evolved to deliver PAGB’s vision for the UK to lead the way in consumer healthcare, underpinned by a robust regulatory and policy framework, offering unparalleled access to products that empower consumers to self-care with confidence.

They discuss how PAGB is focused on ensuring that self-care remains a political priority and the work we are delivering to ensure that self-care policies are incorporated into the 10 Year Health Plan, Industrial Strategy and Life Sciences Sector Plan.

They also touch on PAGB’s work to drive the latest reclassification announcement from the DHSC, and the opportunities to widen access to OTC medicines for consumers.

In part two, Michelle and David dive into digital consumer health in the UK and the key role that brands play in unlocking self-care in this area. They also discuss how the UK consumer health industry has been transformed, including the impact of Brexit as they touch on whether the UK’s exit from the EU realised the promises of innovation. Finally, they wrap up the conversation by looking at what’s next for the UK OTC industry.
