New HSIS research paper on nutrition gaps published in Food and Nutrition Sciences journal

Experts from the Health and Food Supplements Information Service (HSIS) have authored a new research paper highlighting the need for the nation to future-proof their daily diets with a multivitamin and multimineral.

Experts from the Health and Food Supplements Information Service (HSIS) have authored a new research paper that published last week in the Food and Nutrition Sciences journal titled: Where Are We up to with Vitamin, Mineral and Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Gaps? Intake and Status Findings from the UK National Diet and Nutritional Survey 2019 to 2023

This latest peer review paper focuses on analysis of the latest survey data from the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) published in June 2025, as well as real-world data that was commissioned by HSIS, together with other published research which was pertinent to the paper.

The paper highlights the need for the nation to future-proof their daily diets with a multivitamin and multimineral, as well as an omega-3 or fish oil supplement, revealing significant nutrient gaps across all age groups from diet alone. The evidence provides a robust position for the vital need for supplements to support people’s wellbeing and showcases a greater need for self-care to future-proof people’s health.

HSIS has secured several pieces of national coverage on the paper’s findings, which highlight the experts’ comments and recommendations to address the dietary gaps.
