In December 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a consultation on reporting requirements for the estimated emissions of synthetic polymer microplastics (SPMs) to the environment for derogated uses. The consultation closed on 20 January 2025 and the objective of this consultation was to gather input on the proposal for the implementation of reporting requirements for certain derogated uses of SPMs.
The consultation documents can be accessed on ECHA’s website here. AESGP responded to this consultation and PAGB inputted via AESGP.
Following the consultation, the final version of the reporting requirements for derogated uses under the REACH microplastics restriction has now been published and the report can be accessed here.
