This is an on-demand recording of a webinar hosted by the Health and Food Supplements Information Service (HSIS) with Dr Emma Derbyshire.

The presentation covers recent findings from the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey (2019–2023) and a Perspectus Global survey, highlighting widespread shortfalls in key vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids across the UK population. Such shortfalls have both short and long-term health implications, including effects on inter-generational wellbeing.

The presentation also discusses the importance of improving public awareness, government initiatives, and fortification or supplementation strategies to help close current nutrient gaps and enhance future population health. All the data detailed is borne out of the latest HSIS research review published in Food and Nutrition Sciences Journal: ‘Where Are We Up To With Vitamin, Mineral and Omega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Gaps?

Recorded in November 2025, all information is correct at the time of recording.
